Here I’ll discuss what in my experience challenges organizations in the process of implementing Open Innovation. I will also introduce a new framework that helps to analyze, understand and question the mechanisms behind the innovation implementation in an organization. I’m still working and developing that framework, in the hope that it becomes a strong and useful tool for Open Innovation practitioners and organization strategists to own and improve their practice by asking the right questions. I grew up in Mexico. When I was little, perhaps around the age of 10, I came to my mother and asked if I could borrow 5 pesos from her, and I told her I’d pay her back 10 pesos one month from then. Today, that would be like asking for 5 euros. She lent me the money and she accompanied me to buy candies that I was planning to sell at school with a merchant’s mindset.

Aquí explicaré lo que, en mi experiencia, desafía a las organizaciones en el proceso de implementación de la innovación abierta. También presentaré un nuevo marco que ayuda a analizar, comprender y cuestionar los mecanismos detrás de la implementación de la innovación en una organización. Aún continúo trabajando y desarrollando este marco con la esperanza de que se convierta en una herramienta sólida y útil para que los profesionales de la innovación abierta y los estrategas de la organización se apropien y mejoren su práctica haciendo las preguntas correctas.
